Provenance. Vient du grec "basileus" Signifie : "monarque" Se fête le 2 janvier.
Histoire. Fils de Sainte Eumélie, frère de saint Grégoire de Nysse, la voie du petit Basile est toute tracée. Après de brillantes études à Athènes, il est ordonné prêtre et devient conseiller de l'évêque de Césarée qu 'il remplacera à cette charge. Grand théologien, il combat vigoureusement l'arianisme. Son esprit oecuménique le fait aimer de tous. Epuisé, il meurt à 49 ans, en 379.
Caractère. Entêtés, obstinés, il est difficile de les faire changer d'avis. Ce sont de redoutables travailleurs qui se cachent derrière une allure lymphatique. Sensibles, très émotifs, ils maîtrisent parfaitement leurs sentiments. Réalistes et pragmatiques, ce sont des hommes sérieux et rassurants.
