Provenance. Vient du germain "gari et wald" signifie : "lance et gouvernant" Se fête le 5 décembre.
Histoire. Saint Gérald vécut en Espagne au IXème siècle.Très jeune, il devint moine et se fit remarquer par sa sagesse ; si bien que l'archevêque de Tolède lui demanda de mettre de l'ordre dans le clergé espagnol, après l'occupation musulmane. Fort de son succès, c'est l'Eglise portugaise qui fit appel à ses services. Il devint archevêque de Braga, au Portugal, où il mourut le 5 décembre 1109.
Caractère. Quelque peu distants, d'une élégance classique, ils savent se maîtriser en toute circonstance. Leur confiance en eux-mêmes est inébranlable. Emotifs, sensibles, ils sont aussi susceptibles.Travailleurs efficaces, ils aiment les défis et la compétition. Affectueux, mais pudiques, ils expriment peu leurs sentiments et préservent leur jardin secret.
