Provenance. Prénom dérivé de Gilles. Vient du grec "aegidios", signifie : "égide, bouclier" (Se mettre sous l'égide de) Se fête le 1er septembre.
Histoire. La petite ville de Saint Gilles-du-Gard était autrefois un port de mer, mais surtout un lieu de pélerinage et une étape sur le chemin de Saint Jacques de Compostelle. On y vénère saint Egide (ou Gilles) qui y vécut vraissemblablement vers le VIème siècle et dont on ne sait rien. Au cours des siècles, la légende en a fait l'un des saints les plus populaires du moyen âge.
Caractère. On les croit superficiels, ils sont en réalité sérieux. On les prend pour des dilettantes, ils sont d'une conscience professionnelle exemplaire. Ils sont volontaires, déterminés, travailleurs. Extravertis, ils ont besoin de s'exprimer sur tout. Très sociables, indépendants, ils sont critiques et n'aiment pas se faire commander. Le charme féminin les attirent toujours.
