Provenance. Forme celte de Yves. Vient du celte "yv", signifie : "if, arbuste" Se fête le 19 mai.
Histoire. Saint Yves est né en 1253 dans les Côtes d'Armor. Il étudia la théologie à Paris et le droit à Orléans et fut nommé juge écclésiatique à Rennes, puis curé de campagne à Louannec. Il créa un hospice pour recueillir les vieillards et un orphelinat sur ses propres deniers. Il défendit les pauvres et les paysans contre les seigneurs sans scrupules. On le surnomma "l'avocat des pauvres". Il mourut le 19 mai 1303. Saint Yves est le saint le plus populaire de Bretagne.
