Provenance. Forme hollandaise de Marie. Vient de l'hébreu "mar'yäm" Signifie : "princesse de la mer" Se fête le 15 août.
Histoire. Nous connaissons tous Marie, fille de Joachim et de Anne, mère de Jésus, fils de Dieu. On l'appelle aussi Sainte Vierge ou Vierge Marie, parce que, selon la tradition chrétienne, elle conçut son enfant par l'intermédiaire du saint Esprit. On dénombre cent dix sept saintes et bienheureuses qui ont porté ce joli nom.
Caractère. Sûres d'elles, de forte personnalité et de caractère pas très facile, elles imposent leur autorité naturelle à leur entourage. Discrètes, plutôt effacées mais efficaces, très actives, elles sont surtout généreuses, dévouées et toujours prêtes à rendre service. Fières, susceptibles et exigeantes, elles ne se laissent pas faire. Elles donnent priorité à la vie de famille et sont possessives par amour et par protection.
