Provenance. Vient du germain "sanths et thanc" Signifie : "vrai, juste et pensée" Se fête le 19 décembre.
Histoire. Irlandaise, Samthann ou Samantha est moniale dans l'abbaye d'Urney, en Ulster. Sa vie est faite de bonté et d'indulgence. Elle sauve un bébé que sa mère, une ermite, est sur le point de noyer pour éviter le scandale. Elle élèvera l'enfant qui deviendra abbé. Elle sauve aussi du naufrage tout l'équipage d'un navire, par ses prières. Abbesse du monastère de Cloubroney, elle meurt en 739.
Caractère. Esprit curieux, elles s'intéressent à beaucoup de chose avec passion. Elles ont de l'humour et leur vie ne manque pas de fantaisie. On ne s'ennuie jamais en compagnie d'une Samantha. Elles sont vives et savent ce qu'elles veulent. Simples, décontractées, honnêtes, elles peuvent être rancunières si elles ont été blessées. Leur bonne humeur est communicative et ce sont des femmes d'un seul amour.
