Provenance. Dérivé de Shirley. Prénom d'origine anglaise. Fête indéterminée.
Histoire. Shirley est l'héroïne d'un roman de Charlotte Bronte. Il faut savoir que les anglo-saxons font facilement appel à des noms de lieux, des patronymes, des personnages de romans ou de films pour les atrtibuer à leurs enfants. C'est le cas de Shirley qui est un personnage de roman.
Caractère. Ce sont habituellement des femmes très séduisantes, pleines de majesté et de grâce. Leur froideur et leur distance ne sont qu'apparentes et cachent plutôt une autodéfence et une certaine timidité. Elles sont discrètes, voire secrètes, et réagissent toujours avec pondération. Un peu sauvages, elles fuient le contact avec le monde et la foule, préférant les petits comités. Elles ont besoin de se sentir épaulées et sécurisées pour s'épanouir.
