Provenance. Forme bretonne de Jean-yves. Jean, vient de l'hébreu, signifie : "Dieu est miséricordieux" Yves, vient du celte "yv" signifie : "if, l'arbuste" Se fête le 27 décembre ou le 19 mai.
Histoire. Saint Jean l'Evangéliste, apôtre du Christ en Palestine, au Ier siècle, est pêcheur sur le lac de Tibériade. Il est l'un des premiers à tout abandonner pour suivre le Maître. Mort à Ephèse à l'aube du IIème siècle, saint Jean est le patron des théologiens. Saint Yves est né en 1253 dans les Côtes d'Armor. Prêtre, il fut aussi juge ecclésiastique à Rennes. Il se fit l'avocat des pauvres et des paysans contre les seigneurs sans scrupules. C'est le saint le plus populaire de Bretagne.
Caractère. Coté Jean, intelligents, l'esprit toujours en éveil, très actifs, volontaires, ils épuisent leur entourage qui s'essouffle à vouloir les suivre. Obstinés, calmes, peu tolérants, car eux seuls détiennent la vérité, leur morale est exemplaire. Côté Yves, équilibrés, réfléchis, ils dégagent un sentiment de force tranquille. Entiers, ils refusent les demi-mesures. Leur sens de l'autorité les conduit à prendre des responsabilités. Ce sont des meneurs d'hommes.
