Provenance. Prénom d'origine anglo-saxonne. Vient du gaël "mael" Signifie : " prince, chef" Se fête le 6 février.
Histoire. Saint Mel est un neveu et un disciple de saint Patrick, dans l'Ulster, en Irlande, au Vème siècle. Il prend l'habit religieux dans le monastère fondé par Patrick, en 445. Il en devient abbé et succède à saint Patrick à la tête de l'évêché d'Ardagh, en 461. -Sainte Melle est Irlandaise et vécut au VIIIème siècle. Issue d'une riche famille, elle consacre sa vie à Dieu à l'abbaye de Loughera, dans le comté de Galway. On la fête le 9 mars.
Caractère. L'équilibre psychologique et intellectuel est leur caractéristique essentielle. Elles sont dynamiques, gaies, entreprenantes, patientes et obstinées. Elles sont pleines de vie et de bon sens. Leur enthousiasme et leur sympathie attirent de nombreux amis. En amour, elles sont plutôt timides et maladroites. Elles recherchent toujours la simplicité et sont très attachées aux choses et aux gens simples.
